This is a situation beyond partisan underpinning. It's beyond ethnic bearing or religious bias. It's a call to make things work out well for us a country. Abi suffer no dey tire you??
The situation is tiring, and I doubt those in government are tired of their governance. If they were, they would rather not apportion blame or tagged it as the ‘Nigeria Governing System’, (Meaning it has always been this way) but become the agent of change that is needed for us a country and adjust to the demands of the masses.
To tell you how fed up we all are in the country, the protest against economic hardship, scheduled for August, has already started in some states. And the reason is no longer the tale- of the patient dog to eat the fattest bone; because in waiting any further it would only mean that the patient dog would be left to a fate of no bone to savor at the end which will eventually make it starve to death.
Prices of food and basic commodities have gone through the roof in the last months, and as a people we battle one of the country’s worst inflation and economic crisis sparked by the government’s twin policies of petrol subsidy removal and unification of forex windows. These days we see citizens who own cars now use public transport because paying N820 for a liter of fuel is no longer funny on a meager income. It's becoming an aerial economic raillery.
Note, for some of you who are saying the call for a protest isn’t objective enough, this isn't just about copying Kenya's extra tax levy protest. It is important you know that this is a rally for an #EndtoBadgovernance. The demonstration for we as a people is aimed at drawing the attention of the governments at various levels to the hardship bedeviling the citizens. The right to peacefully assemble and voice grievances is a fundamental right that is enshrined in the constitution of many countries, including Nigeria, so it is only necessary we exercise such right.
Though the last administration had its flaws, but the present situation of this administration demands quick action. We've never had it this bad, and feeding is now a taxing responsibility. Yet we see reckless spendings and borrowing catering to the comforts of leaders whose leadership is next to nothing.
Even though as alleged that the current socio-economic chaos in Nigeria were not entirely caused by Tinubu, it is surprising that his foot soldiers are yet to help him out in redirecting the country. I urge Mr President to urgently weed out incompetent aides that have not made any appreciable effort to revive Nigeria’s once robust economy. And he should start as a leading example from his office to cut down the the cost of governance. The monies allotted to functioning of offices is way to high, especially of the senates. It is way too much for a struggling economy.
May this quest to put an end to bad governance and for a better governance to succeed.
