Ethiope West — Crisis loom the Legislative Council of Ethiope West Local Government Area, and this has led to suspension of two councilors for alleged acts of misconduct.
The crises brewing in the Ethiope West Local Government Council of Delta State has reached the peak as all the Councillors, arising from their meeting today Wednesday 5th December 2018 announced the suspension of two councilors “Hon. Moses Ofotokun and Hon. Valentina Avwhuri”, one representing Ward 18 Oghareki and the other representing Ward 14 Ogharefe respectively, for their acts of various misconduct.
According to the committee setup by the Leader of the House to investigate on issues that resulted to their indefinite suspension, Hon. Ofotokun has on several occasions made unpleasant statements with villainous intent to breach the peace and harmony of the house. Hon. Avwhuri has been responsible for the discordant and frosty relationship between the legislature and executive arm of the Council, Hon. Avwhuri is also responsible for instigating members against leadership of the Honourable house, she is also responsible for divulgance of house decision to the public.
In a report, signed by the five man committee setup for the investigation, the lawmakers said their act is a gross misconduct and that they should face indefinite suspension till further notice beginning from today 5th December 2018.
