The willingness of the people to be led is essential for effective leadership. The grant of leadership is always contingent. People may be willing to be led, if only the leaders consistently demonstrate that they are competent, that their decision making is sound and that they give credence to the opinion of those they are leading.
Too many political leaders seem to have forgotten that they owe their leadership roles to the people that voted them into power, they no longer value their opinion. The people are fed up and running out of patients due to the unfair, unjust and unequal representation at play towards distributing dividends of democracy by the incumbent. Ethiope federal constituency representative has become so voiceless at the hallowed chamber, thus making the constituency vulnerable to other constituencies owing to the fact that inexperienced and low quality representation is at play, hence they always succeed in hijacking our constituency projects.
What happens when a leader proves not to be worthy of continued leadership? The followers become frustrated and look to reassert their decision power in exercising their franchise towards selecting their next leader. And if the leader does not cede authority back; then his position becomes vulnerable and his chances of retaining it becomes zero. Most leaders fail to understand that the true test of leadership is their followers.
Leadership is different now, economic volatility, shrinking and increasing daily. We can no longer condole mediocrity, we need a fast thinker, a human capital developer and an accessible personality who has the spirit of equity and fairness running in his gene, one who can turn challenges into channels for opportunities. We don’t need a representative who cannot move a motion, Ethiope Federal Constituency is not for the UNPREPARED, Power must change hand. Whoever wants to learn quality representation should seek for mentorship from experienced legislators. Ethiope Federal Constituency is not a learning platform, if you want to learn go and start from your LGA.
Our values as stakeholders has changed so much that sometimes we get confused about how to set our priorities right. When a representative is not performing well at all it is expected of stakeholders to set their priorities right by taking prolific decision, two may posses the same wealth and exert the same authority and yet one would be greater than the other because men with brilliant ideas do exploit. Ethiope Federal Constituency is not for the UNPREPARED.
