As we prepare to decide the fate of Ethiope Federal Constituency and Ethiope Federal Constituents in 2019, we should realize that whatever decision we take or abet on behalf of the people will be judged by posterity. Whether we like it or not, there will be another four post election years of adjustment to whatever our electioneering decisions brought to the fore.
Some unscrupulous elements had made several nefarious, rapacious moves to dissuade those who are steadfast and desirous of getting it right this time. We're aware that their poise is not unconnected with the resolve to protect selfish interests as against what will benefit Ethiope Federal Constituency. These political merchants should never again be allowed to trade with our collective franchise through deceptive bargains.
Ethiope Federal Constituency is one of the most peopled Federal Constituencies in Nigeria. Sadly enough, the last three years has positioned the people in aloofness from federal recognition, following elitist conspiracy, factional leadership, cosmetic attachment and slavish loyalty.
Before we became core party products, we were first natives of Ethiope Federal Constituency. Ethiope Federal Constituency comprises of East Ethiope and West Ethiope.
The echoes of separatist factors are on the offing. But should a part of Ethiope Federal bear roots in political favouritism against good conscience that grace may abound? Is there no place for excellence and strict adherence to rules of engagement?
Every legislator has what is called oversight function; and receives allocations for constituency projects. Almost three years now, our sitting legislator has nothing to show as a product of his oversight function and allocations for constituency projects. No constituency projects, no constituency appointment.
Legislators are grassroots mediators. They are bridges between Federal Government and local peoples. They are supposed to operate grassroots constituency offices to ease community relations and local connections between the central and the periphery. Where are our constituency offices? Is there Federal Government presence in Ethiope Federal Constituency today? A serious legislator attracts the presence of Federal Government to his Constituency.
When constituencies are effectively represented at the federal level, the burden States and Local Governments bear becomes alleviated. All the projects we enjoy in Ethiope Federal Constituency in the last three years are state-grown, through the detribalized efforts of our Smart Governor, Sen. Dr. Arthur Ifeanyi Okowa. If constituency projects from federal government are implemented as allocated, there won't be any lacuna and excessive burden on the State and Local Governments.
We demand immediate correction through free and fair party primaries and general elections. We demand that a better man be sent. Let's join hands to put Ethiope Federal in the right perspective. The beginning of our future is now
